How to look after yourself when burnt out and sleep deprived?
Burn out can happen quick when it comes to sleep deprived nights and full on days. Trying to balance this all navigating new developmental stages, making time for your relationship plus day to day things around the home.
SO how can you prevent burnout but also support yourself and family when you feel like you are sinking not swimming?
Cut yourself some slack.
You always have time to clean up and sort your house out but it takes energy to do so. It is okay if it doesn’t look like a show home. Add baskets around the home you can make piles look cleaner. One load of laundry a day can help stay on top of laundry.
Stop the food shop
Well not exactly, click and collect or a food delivery sometimes is worth the extra few pounds. Helps you have reserved energy and takes a little bit of your load down.
Get outside
Getting outside can help reduce a mental block get yourself moving and can help give you a positive mind set. It doesn’t have to be long either just 5 minutes can be good.
It’s okay to say no
Sometimes in those moments where there are plans or people around you that want to spend time can be more of exhausting than helpful. Its not right to completely shut yourself off but it is okay to reduce activities if you need to restore energy or ask to meet at your home or change to help support you and your little one.
Ask for help
This could feel really uncomfortable but it is okay to ask for help. Even if it is texting, voice noting or posting in a group getting things off your chest having advice and support in person or virtually.
